I've spent most of my working life learning how to make an edit move — to find the instinctive 1-2-3-4 rock 'n' roll in a pile of material and turn it into something engaging.

But making something engaging is only part of it.

The camera, the light, the edit, the sound, the music — they're tools. Sometimes you need all of them. Sometimes almost none.

In the end, I don't think it's technical perfection that moves you. It's the truth in the expression — finding the core of the story and making it not just understood, but felt.
